It begins with a vision

As an artist, I'll paint just about anything that nature has to offer, although animals are my favorite subjects. For me it is great fun trying to portray their personalities by capturing their body language and expressions. Finding good subject matter and inspiration is not a problem in the places I find myself drawn to these days, especially the mountains of North Carolina and the beaches of Florida.

My style continue to evolve as I try out the different techniques I learned from several very talented professional artists. Whether I am painting or drawing, I also enjoy experimenting with new mediums to find fresh ways to express beauty.

I have received instruction from some of the best artists in the country. I would like to express my appreciation for some of those who have made the biggest impact on me:

Gwendolyn Bragg - As a student of Gwen's for many years at the Art League School in Alexandria, Virginia, I had some of the best instruction. Gwen is a well-known watercolor artist and one of those special artists who is also an excellent instructor. She emphasized all of the elements and techniques that help make any painting a success.

David Dunlop - I have taken a number of painting classes from David Dunlop. David is an internationally recognized modern-day old master who draws on Renaissance techniques and contemporary science. He is a member of the faculty at the Silvermine School of Art in Connecticut. He inspires creativity in his students unlike any other instructor I have known.

Chris Groves - Chris has a degree in environmental design/architecture. He also studied at the Florence Academy in Italy and taught at the Atelier Academy in Colorado. A renowned artist, Chris's work is reminiscent of old masters. From him I learned so much about color, color selection, and old master glazing techniques.

Neil Rizos - Neil is internationally acclaimed for his birds. His creations include sculptures, drawings, paintings, and prints. He loves to share his techniques for accurately drawing them and using them as a subject for printmaking. His style resonates with me because his art is a way for him to explore his beautiful and interesting subjects.
